After serving his articles as clerk to HR (Bob) Hunt, founding partner of the Sydney firm Hunt & Hunt, David
was admitted as an Attorney, Solicitor & Proctor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 19 March 1971.
Following admission he was offered an Associateship with the firm then known as Donald E Glasson & Gemmell,
subsequently joining Donald Glasson and Malcolm Gemmell as a partner on 1 July 1972 when the firm’s name changed to
Glasson Gemmell & McGill.
In 1974 David married Kerry, then an employee of the firm. In July 2001, after the retirements of Donald Glasson
and Malcolm Gemmell, Kerry rejoined the firm as a Partner with David in the firm's multi-disciplinary partnership.
Their three children have all followed their parents into the legal profession. Kate and James became Partners in
the firm on 1 July 2009, whilst Sarah is a legal counsel with an international company.
David has served several terms on the NSW Law Society’s Professional Conduct Committee and for many years served as a
member of the Law Society’s Senior Solicitors scheme panel, assisting fellow practitioners in relation to
professional conduct and regulatory issues.
